Lichtenstein
Our last assignment for Image Manipulation was to create a Roy Lichtenstein style cartoon with text. This automatically reminded me of the original Batman TV show. So I found a picture of Batman and Robin from the show. I then traced them with the pen tool and filled them in with color. I created my background and finished it off with text. I chose a quote from Robin's character in the show for it's amusement value. Overall, I think this would have to be my ultimate favorite picture of all my work for the class.
Week Eight
Week eight also brought two assignments; Photo Retouch and Cezanne. Cezanne was a project to make an image look like a Paul Cezanne painting (kinda gloomy and dark). I chose a picture of the main screen to a PC game called Plants vs Zombies. It normally looks all light and kinda happy. After adding shadow and more purples, it turned out to be creepy and very cool looking. For Photo Retouching I chose an image I found online of a girl with some blemishes. I used different techniques to get rid of her blemishes and wrinkles to give her a more desirable look.
Week Seven
Week seven brought two assignments; Refractive Glass and Seurat. The Seurat pictures were fun. We had to make the pictures look like the dot paintings of George Seurat. I chose to do two pictures for this; a picture of me from last halloween and a picture of Harley Quinn from the video game Arkam Asylum. The second assignment wasn't so easy for me. We had to make text look like glass. I felt that I did a decent job of this. However, I couldn't figure out how to detach my image so you could see the text better.
Cut Paper
Cut Paper was a fun assignment. We had to make a picture look like it was made out of paper strips. I used another picture of myself from before I moved. Each layer had a different part of my face or clothing made to look like paper. I then added texture to the background, my sweatshirt, the hood, my shirt, and my hair. We also had to add a text that looked like metal. I chose my wording because the person who took the picture said I had a look on my face like "I did it!".
Outline and Fill
Week five brought the assignment of Outline and Fill. I chose a picture of me before I moved out to the great state of California, when I still had pink and black hair. I then outlined the image using the pen tool. To finish off the image, I filled in the areas with color and did my best to show shadow and highlight. I believe that the image came out nicely.
Line Art
The line art project was one of my favorites. We had to take images and turn them into basic line art with hatching for shading. I found this to be easy and fun. So, I decided to create three pictures instead of just one. My favorite was Kiari (top photo) because she turned out the best with visibility and shading. I also decided to use my geisha image again and a picture of Joanna Dark from the video game Perfect Dark.
Stencil Graffiti
The third week of Image Manipulation we were assigned a project called stencil graffiti. I loved the outcome of everyone's work. For mine, I chose a regular brick wall for my background. I found this really cute picture of a cartoon geisha that I decided to use for the graffiti. Then it was just a matter of laying out the stencil lines and giving it a look of excess spray paint.
